COUNTY COMMISSIONERS’ RESERVED PARKING SPACES – WHY?July 4, 2013, 2:31 pm
QUESTION: Exactly why do our elected Barnstable County Commissioners have reserved parking spaces located directly in front of the Superior Court House entrance when in fact they rarely hold meetings there more than once a week? ANSWER: To a certain degree, the allocation of private and reserved parking spaces for the three county commissioners has no practical purpose or inherent legitimate reason. It is simply employed as a type of undeserved status symbol designed for the sole purpose of elevating these county officials in grandiose stature, aristocratic social class and imperial prominence above all others.

International Exchange Coordinator, EF Foundation for Foreign StudyMay 12, 2013, 2:54 pm
I am looking for host families for international exchange students of high school age coming to Cape Cod. I have already placed two Italian students at Dennis-Yarmouth for the 2013-14 school year and have host families for both of them. D-Y is willing to accept one to two more students, so I am looking to see if there is any interest in the community in becoming a host family. I also have a male student from Norway who will be attending Cape Cod Tech and I need a family for him too. More info is here http://www.effoundation.org/hosting-an-exchange-student/ If you are interested, please contact Victoria Martin at sportsgirlv@yahoo.com. Thanks!

Oceanfront Vacation RentalNovember 2, 2011, 3:16 pm
Hi. We are looking for a rental property/home for our July/August 2012 MA family vacation. We live in MN so it is very important for us to be ON THE WATER (ocean front - looking out at the water and hearing the ocean waves). We have six (6) small kids ranging in age from 1 yrs old to 14 years old, so again, it is important that we are ON the water so we are not walking any distance and/or we can see the kids from the rental property if they are near the water. Any assistance in helping us find the right property for our 2012 family vacation would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Mary 952-470-2004 Chanhassen, MN

Must Do's of Cape Cod????October 11, 2011, 6:25 pm
Hi Native Cape Codders! My girlfriend and I are planning a trip to Cape Cod this weekend. Unfortunately, we will only be there on Saturday and Sunday October 15 and 16th. We are wondering what are some of the things that you think every tourist should do/see? We are both active and we do not like museums. What is Cape Cod known for? Neither of us has been there before. What are the things you think every tourist should experience on your land? We will have a car, so we are not limited in that respect. We will drive anywhere on the Cape. Thank you so much! :) Lori

The Inn at the Egg B&BAugust 16, 2011, 6:17 pm
Years back, I was fortunate enough to stay at the Inn at the Egg B&B in Brewster, MA. At that time, it was run by Joan & Diane and was located right across the street from the General Store. I am now wondering of the Inn is still there and if it is still run by Joan & Diane. It was a beautifully decorated inn and I always felt extremely welcome and right at home! I am planning another trip to the Cape and would love to show my new husband this inn. If anyone has any information, it would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

Writing to see if anyone posted on Craigslist that they found a wedding ring 5 years ago on Hyannis Beach with the inscription Nov 1976. I am pretty sure this is my brother's wedding ring that he lost quite a few years ago. I am hoping to find out who posted this entry this past November which has now ended. If anyone knows who it may be please contact me either way it would be nice to know if this mystery ring is his? Thanks. Maryellen

best beach rentalDecember 29, 2010, 8:19 pm
I am looking for the best beach rental for 2 adults a 3 y/o boy and a baby. I would like to be able to walk to the beach with a stroller etc. Would like 3 bedroom as we all sleep at different times. Fully stocked kitchen and linens a plus. Would like to be on a beach not too full of rocks when entering the water. We have been to Corporation and Sea St. beaches and they were very nice for my toddler. Some pictures on rentals are deceiving where it looks like you are closer to the water than you really are. This happened to us the past two years.

Many years ago when I lived on the Cape we used to go to the Mall and there was a very talented artist there. She would paint mostly children on canvas using nothing but her fingers. I can remember we watched her for hours. Does anyone remember her - would love her biography and to see her paintings again. Hope someone out there remembers her. Thank you Janet

Does your family own/operate a restaurant?July 20, 2010, 11:20 am
Do you and your children all pitch in to help out? MTV is looking for families who own and run their own local restaurants. The bigger the family, the better. We'd like restaurants where the entire family is involved in the business from managing and hosting to cooking and serving. If your family is close-knit, outgoing and full of personality, please send an email to familyrestaurant@mtvn.com with your name, location, and names and pictures of your entire family. Please give us some background about the restaurant, including how long the family has owned it, who does what at the restaurant, and how much time is spent there on average.

Looking for space to set up my yurtMarch 2, 2010, 9:23 pm
Greetings Cape Cod from snowy Vermont! I am hoping to find a place to set up my yurt so I can be closer to my dad who lives not too far away from the Cape. My ideal situation would be to find a quiet spot on someone's property where I could lay out the yurt platform, and erect my yurt. I can pay to rent the space, and also barter for any landscape work/gardening, or chores. I am a web developer and my business travels where I go, so if you need web work I may be able to help there or barter that, as well! I have references, I am amicable, well-educated and friendly. Reply and I can get you my number. Ideas welcome, too!

RE: Viva Storyland!February 28, 2009, 9:13 pm
Incidently, my mother, the late Mary McDonald (RIP) of Dorchester, passed on November 25th of 2007 from Cancer of the pancreas. Less than two months after her 64th birthday and she is sorely missed. Eerily, one of my fondest memories of my late grandmother (RIP) who died from breast cancer in 1966 was visiting the Worlds Fair with her in 1965. She was only in her mid forties at her passing. Myself and my three children now reside on the Cape in Bourne.

RE: StorylandFebruary 28, 2009, 8:51 pm
Wow I am so amazed to hear that Storyland has been around that long. I have three and five year old girls and before their grandmother passed away in Nov. 2007 she made certain she shared the Storyland experience with them. She accompanied them about the park, oxygen tank in tow and in a wheelchair but was ecstatic to see the looks on their faces as they explored the park. We had come to MA from GA to spend her last days with her; this and the other trips she shared, left her memory indelibly marked in their hearts. My then 3 year old exclaimed after her passing "every time I blink my eyes I'm gonna think about my Nanna" Viva Storyland!

Local Flavor Lunch & BagelJune 23, 2008, 10:44 pm
What a great sandwich shop! In Brewster on Underpass Rd. We found them on the bike path and got the best sandwiches there. The food was fresh and affordable for our family. We would recommend it to anyone looking for a great sandwich for breakfast or lunch.

Looking for RecipeJune 14, 2008, 7:43 pm
I am looking for a recipe which my Grandfather, Robert George Butler, had published in a Cape Cod Cookbook, in either the 70s or 80s. We knew it as TarPaper Cake, but that was not the name used for publishing. Our copy of the cookbook disappeared along with an entire box of cookbooks during a move.

I've been stuck out here in the dirt(central valley) for too long ! I'm single, disabled and thinkin' about movin' back closer to where I belong. Need a place on the outer Cape that I can bring my junk and my cats. Have to rent or share. Steady income via SSDI. I'm in my 50s, aging cosmic rocker of various cultures. Any thoughts ?

Birthday weekend winter visit. Ideas??January 21, 2008, 11:54 am
Hello: My boyfriend and I are visiting Provincetown 2/22 - 2/24 (08) for his birthday. It's a surprise for him. Every year on the other's birthday we find a cool funky New England place to visit. We both have winter birthdays and so beach areas are "closed down" but we enjoy the solitude, walks, etc. Can anyone recommend places to visit, any "must do" , especially out of the way type ideas we wouldn't stumble upon? Have dinner reservations at the Mews for Saturday night. Is there a local live music venue, even in a neighboring town? He loves live music. Thank you!!

Visiting P-town for the first timeNovember 19, 2007, 1:41 pm
Hi, I'll be going to provincetown alone in winter. It'll be my first time there. Can anyone suggest what's there to do in winter? In particular, I hope to go to Long Point and see the lighthouse, but don't know if it's possible in winter. I've also heard of cruises passing by Long Point, but don't know if they operate in winter. I know it'll be pretty quiet at that time and am prepared to just stay in my room, watch a dvd, gaze at the sea or something. But just trying my luck to find out more from the locals/experienced tourists! Thanks!

Attire at Front StreetOctober 1, 2007, 9:59 am
I am visiting Provincetown for the first time next week and am wondering what sort of attire is typical at this restaurant. Would a shirt and tie be appropriate for a man, or is the scene more casual?

LOOKING FOR P>E>O INTERNATIONAL MEMERSSeptember 13, 2007, 4:43 pm
Hello Cape Cod. Anyone know someone in a secret organization Called PEO International on Cape Cod or in Boston. This organization was founded in 1969 and is a sisterhood of women who arrange scholarships and loans for other women who are in need going to college. The only deal is, they don't publicise thier members or chapters and you've got to be recommended by a member, but you don't know who the members are. They claim 250,000 members, but I can't find one. Anyone know one? Email me mjemje123@yahoo.com
